From nobody to somebody, that’s how I first perceived about this petite, young and innocent girl since she is only 16 years of age. But really looks can be deceiving…she is a multi awarded young actress here and abroad.
To name a few, Teri is now known by her real name “Therese Malvar” is the youngest nominee of the Gwad Urian Awards for best Actress at the age of 13, she stunned stunned the entire film industry when she defeated the Superstar Nora Aunor for the Best Actress plum in the first CineFilipino Film Festival last year. Her role in “Ang Huling Cha-Cha Ni Anita” gave her the Best Actress recognition.
Take note, she had no acting background other than joining declamation contests in her school. “Say what?!
Last year, she only took home the best Actress Award at the 15th New york Asian Film Festival and 38th moscow International Film Festival for her role in the indie film “Hamog”. Malvar is the first Southeast Asian Actress to have won an award in the Moscow International Film Festival.
Apart from that, she also did some notable roles in “Sud Sa Ginhawaan” (a short film) and “Sakaling Hindi Makarating”. Therese Malvar will soon appear in a new GMA teleserye entitled “Legally Blind”.
With all the awards and recognition, Malvar’s future is quite secured with an exclusive contract with GMA Artist Center…her home network for now.
